"And the Gospel never changes."

Well, the Gospel may never change, but its interpretation certainly has and does. In the early to mid 1800s many Christians in the US interpreted the Bible as supporting slavery. In earlier centuries people interpreted the Bible as supporting killing witches. I'm sure similar interpretations are coming, especially here in the US.
