"The tech interview process isn’t very good at all. It excludes good candidates and I feel at some point it isn’t really suited to filtering out bad candidates either."

In my experience interviewing can only identify people with obvious personality issues or who are completely unqualified for the job. There is little correlation between being able to answer quiz questions or solve programming puzzles and being able to be productive in the working environment. You don't know what you're getting until they have actually worked for you for a while. But this is the case for many things in life.
